THE STORY

Why we built PaperSlip

I didn't set out to build an invoicing app. I'm a homeowner.

Over the years I've used a small army of contractors — pool guy, gardener, plumber, electrician, handyman, all the people who keep a house running. And I kept ending up with a drawer full of little paper slips. A receipt here, an invoice there, torn out of a yellow book — and that's when I got one at all. Half the time I got nothing. No record of what was done, what I paid, or when.

It made me wonder: it's 2026 — why are we still doing this on paper? There are dozens of invoice apps out there. So why does every contractor I've ever hired still reach for the receipt book?

The answer is three words: paper is fast, simple, and cheap. It just works. You tear, you write, you hand it over — no app to learn, no monthly bill, no login. Every invoicing app I tried lost on at least one of those three. Too slow, too complicated, or too expensive — and getting pricier every year.

So I challenged my team: build something just as fast, simple, and cheap for the contractor — and use the digital side to give the customer something paper never could. A real record of the work. No more chasing down little slips that get lost.

That's PaperSlip. You write an invoice, estimate, or receipt on your phone and text it over in seconds — that's the whole job. It's so simple you could run your kid's bake sale on it. But because it's digital, it does what paper can't: text or email it, drop in a payment link so they pay you on the spot (Venmo, Cash App, PayPal — straight to you, we never touch your money), track who owes you and who's paid, and keep a portfolio of your work to win the next bid. Use the whole app in Spanish or English, your call.

And cheap? How about free. Free forever — unlimited invoices, unlimited clients, no card, no catch. When you're ready to look a little more pro, $14.99 a month unlocks the extras: send the document in your customer's language, put your own branding on it, turn a job photo into a social post, ask happy customers for a review in one tap, and share your work as a clean brochure link. The price never moves.

That's it. Fast, simple, and cheap — finally good enough to retire the paper slip.

THE WHOLE IDEA
